MEET THE TEAM
Meet Kayla
Kayla Cawood joined the firm in 2018 and is a transactional attorney whose practice is primarily focused on estate planning and corporate transactions, with a specific emphasis on succession and philanthropic planning, contract review and buy/sell agreements. Her clients include small business owners, farmers and ranchers, and families looking to preserve wealth and facilitate a smooth business succession to the next generation.
Kayla has completed the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy course. Kayla enjoys assisting clients who wish to maximize the impact of their charitable giving by leaving a legacy gift for their community and loved ones.
Prior to joining Robben Law, Kayla served as a judicial clerk to The Honorable Robin J. Cauthron of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.
Kayla attended the Oklahoma City University School of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude in 2016. There she served as a distinguished member of the Oklahoma City University Law Review, was a Hatton W. Sumners Scholar, and volunteered with the American Indian Wills Clinic where students met with owners of trust or restricted property in Oklahoma and assisted them with their estate planning. Kayla received the CALI Award for Excellence in both Legal Research and Writing I and II. While in law school, Kayla also served as a judicial extern for The Honorable Noma Gurich of the Oklahoma Supreme Court.
Prior to law school, Kayla graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and worked as a floral designer.
Kayla grew up on a cattle ranch and feed lot in Elmore City, Oklahoma where she enjoyed raising Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies and showing cutting horses. Kayla and her husband, Lee, currently live in Edmond, Oklahoma with their young daughter and two cats.
